Former Taoiseach Valourist has been declared Interim Leader of the Labour Party after WyattSenoric departed the community, ending a brief 27-day stint as party leader.
Valourist, who had been serving as deputy leader, will remain in the interim role while Labour organises a new leadership election. He has previously served as Taoiseach, Attorney General and Commissioner of An Garda Síochána.
Senoric was elected Labour leader last month after a successful challenge to Eamonn_McGrath, campaigning on a promise to revive the party after months of internal instability. He has now vacated party headquarters.
RTÉ understands the leadership election process is now ongoing, with party figures expected to confirm a formal timetable in the coming days.
Before becoming leader, Senoric served as deputy leader under Eamonn_McGrath and also held the role of Solicitor General during Valourist's tenure as Attorney General.
