Leahvnx has announced that she intends to stand down as Director General of Raidio Teilifis Eireann, effective until the Taoiseach appoints a successor.
In her statement, she said she had become preoccupied with other responsibilities and that RTÉ had "not received the full attention it deserves." She said the role demands a level of focus and commitment she is no longer able to give as before.
Leahvnx became Director General on 28 December 2025. One of her first duties in the post was streaming President O'Sullivan's inauguration at Dublin Castle.
"It has become clear to me in recent days that I am not meeting the standards expected of the Director General to the level required."
"Therefore, I am announcing my intention to stand down as Director General of Raidio Teilifis Eireann, effective until the Taoiseach appoints a successor."
"I have deeply appreciated the role, but I recognise that it demands a level of focus and commitment that I am no longer able to give as I once did. For that reason, I tender my resignation today."
She also thanked RTÉ staff, production teams and executive directors, and said she remains committed to supporting a smooth transition.
