Former Tánaiste Eamonn_McGrath has officially ruled out standing to return as Leader of the Labour Party, despite claims that party members had reportedly requested him to do so.

McGrath, a former Social Democrats and Fine Gael leader, became Labour leader in January following the resignation of MRBUCEISMAY22. He won one seat in the February General Election before resigning after a leadership challenge by Deputy Leader WyattSenoric.

It is also understood that McGrath has been seen requesting membership of the Social Democrats, suggesting he may be seeking a return to frontline politics through his former party rather than through Labour.

RTÉ News will continue to keep the public updated as the Labour leadership election progresses.
